Supporting Diversity and Inclusion in Scholarly Research.

Our commitment to diversity extends beyond demographics. We believe a gender-balanced scientific community fosters more robust research.
— Professor Victoria Vivilaki, Editor-in-Chief, European Journal of Midwifery

European Publishing counts on the skills of a variety of people to promote research, regardless of their personal backgrounds. As a publisher of scholarly research, we recognize and respect diversity and support equity and inclusion. Thus, we encourage submissions and research from scientists of any sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation and regardless of racial and ethnic background.

It is our broader goal to eliminate any sample of discrimination in our scientific environment. Thus, actions such as microaggressions, prejudice and harassment and systemic discrimination that harm people do not fit in our society. Therefore, we try our best to build an equitable, diverse and inclusive environment in scientific publishing, a culture where everyone can contribute to and benefit from scientific knowledge.

We go beyond simply adhering to the 6 EU values of inclusion, tolerance, justice, solidarity, and non-discrimination. We actively strive to embody these values in everything we publish, aligning ourselves with the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union.

At European Publishing, two of our six journals have a female Editor-in-Chief (33% representation), and our overall representation of females among members of the editorial boards during our last assessment was 44% (66/151). In light of the above, we are working towards gender parity within the editorial boards of our journals.

We actively promote gender equality and work-life balance among our staff, with a 55% female representation among team members and in-house contractors.
