Encouraging Open Access

Open Access is a publishing model that provides immediate, subscription-free access to the full text of published articles. Our journals are open-access journals, which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or their institution.
Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles or use them for any other lawful purpose without asking the publisher's or the author's prior permission. Moreover, authors who publish in our journals retain the copyright of their article.

The default license for articles published in our journals is the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), but authors who wish to publish their work under a more strict license are also able to choose the Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-ND 4.0).

In the open-access model, publication costs are usually covered by the author’s institution or research funds.
These Article Processing Charges (APCs) replace subscription charges and allow the publishers to make the published material freely available to all interested online readers.
APCs are levied to cover the cost of providing our quality publishing services. At the time of submission, authors are mandated to accept the clearly written APCs or state that they have a waiver for complete transparency regarding APCs.

Open Science encourages collaboration across academia, industry, public authorities, and citizen groups. When these groups are invited to participate in the research and innovation process, creativity and trust in science increase. This engagement process leads to greater transparency in the research process, greater potential impact of research, more efficient research processes and opportunities for global scientific collaboration.

All authors are requested to provide an ORCiD ID when submitting to one of our journals. In order to provide a more thorough scholarly record, members of the Editorial Board and reviewers are also encouraged to submit an ORCiD ID.

All authors are required to include a data availability statement in their manuscript. When specific legal or ethical restrictions prohibit public sharing of a data set, authors must indicate how others may obtain access to the data. European Publishing recommends sharing data in Supplementary Files when possible.
Data repositories that ensure long-term preservation are also encouraged.
